Assistant Manager

As an Assistant Manager, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Store Manager in daily operations, driving sales, and ensuring exceptional customer service. You will support the Store Manager in managing inventory, leading a team of sales associates, store administrators and operational staff. You are expected to contribute significantly to creating a positive work environment among staff and an engaging shopping experience for our customers.
Team Leadership:
- Assist in hiring, training, mentoring staff, and support career development activities
- Support the Store manager with daily operations of the store including invoice approvals, stock management, trouble shooting various issues
- Foster a positive team environment and encourage staff engagement.
- Play a significant role in Implementing corporate programs and activities.
- Schedule staff and manage team shifts to ensure adequate coverage.
Sales & Customer Service:
- Support the Store Manager in achieving sales targets.
- Develop strong product knowledge to effectively assist customers.
- Address customer inquiries and resolve issues promptly to ensure satisfaction.
- Assist in monitoring the accuracy of information reflected in the Source website and act quickly on inconsistencies identified
- Assist in monitoring, distributing, and completing follow-up reports of web leads and order submissions.
Operational Excellence:
- Oversee daily store operations in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Monitor payroll and commissions
- Assist in inventory management, including stock organization, transfers, and replenishment.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, including safety and security protocols.
- Assist in setting budgets and targets as well as budgeting for building maintenance.
Visual Merchandising:
- Help maintain an appealing store layout and product displays.
- Collaborate with the Store Manager on promotional strategies and merchandising initiatives.
- Monitor product pricing is appropriate and accurate.
Finance and Administration:
- Assist with sales reporting, inventory audits.
- Manage cash handling and end-of-day reconciliation as needed.
- Approve invoices and gain clear understanding of internal invoicing
Qualifications:
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills with experience leading a team
· Has the ability to navigate systems and various business software.
· Analytical skills and the ability to navigate and leverage data from Syspro (or similar systems). This may include recommending and executing solutions to increase customer retention and branch profitability.
· Strong Administrative skills; experience with business processes such as reconciliation or balance management, warehouse systems and allocations.
· Ability to perform in a high volume, time sensitive environment
· Degree or Diploma in Business Management is an advantage
· A background in commercial office furnishings is an asset
