Marketing Technical Designer

We are searching for a full-time Technical Designer to work out of our Burnaby head office. The Technical Designer will play a key role in creating detailed and visually appealing product catalogues, flyers, spec sheets and other technical documentation, as well as managing our image library. This position requires a combination of technical expertise, design skills, and an eye for detail to ensure that product information is accurate, comprehensive, and professionally presented. You will collaborate closely with our product team, marketing department, and other internal stakeholders to ensure consistency and clarity across all technical materials.

Main Responsibilities:
Catalogue/Flyer Design and Development:
  • Collaborate with product and marketing teams to design and produce product catalogues and flyers that showcase our latest furniture collections.
  • Ensure catalogues and flyers are visually appealing, easy to navigate, and provide all necessary technical and product information.
  • Update and maintain catalogues and flyers with new products, descriptions, and pricing details.
  • Act as project manager to produce the catalogue, working with all stakeholders to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Work with external vendors (printers, Canada Post) on pricing and timelines.

Creation of Specification Sheets:
  • Design clear, detailed technical specification sheets for all products, including dimensions, materials, finishes, and assembly instructions.
  • Collaborate with manufacturers to ensure accuracy of product data and specifications.
  • Maintain a consistent design aesthetic in all technical documents while ensuring they are functional for customers and internal teams.
Image Library Management:
  • Receive product images from suppliers and ensure all visuals meet quality standards.
  • Categorize, label, and organize the image library for easy access and retrieval by internal teams.
  • Photoshop colours/sizes as necessary to fill in gaps in image library.
  • Regularly audit the image library to ensure it is up-to-date, removing outdated images and adding new ones as products evolve.

Content Management and Documentation:
  • Manage and organize a database of product information and technical documents, ensuring everything is up-to-date and accessible.
  • Work with external partners to gather necessary technical details and images for catalogue and spec sheet content.

Cross-Department Collaboration:
  • Partner with sales, customer service, and installation teams to gather feedback on product documentation and make necessary improvements.
  • Support marketing efforts by supplying technical content for promotional materials, website, and sales presentations.

Other Projects as Needed

Qualifications:
  • Degree or certificate in Technical Design, Graphic Design, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in technical design, product documentation, or related roles.
  • Strong proficiency in design software such as Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to translate complex technical information into clear, concise, and user-friendly documents.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience in the furniture industry or similar field is a plus.
  • Illustration skills is a plus.

Compensation

$50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
