The Corporate Controller is a senior finance leader responsible for overseeing the organization’s accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance across Canadian entities. This role ensures the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial information while supporting executive leadership with insight, governance, and strong financial stewardship.
Reporting to the CEO, the Corporate Controller plays a critical role in enabling sound decision making, optimizing financial processes, and maintaining compliance with Canadian accounting standards and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate brings deep technical accounting expertise, strong leadership capability, and experience operating in a multi entity, operationally complex environment. This position is 100% onsite in our Burnaby headquarters.

Main Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Accounting Operations
• Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with Canadian ASPE or IFRS, as applicable
• Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to executive leadership and ownership
• Maintain oversight of the general ledger, ensuring proper classification and recording of all transactions
• Lead month end and year end close processes and ensure adherence to reporting timelines
Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis
• Lead the annual budgeting process and ongoing forecasting cycles
• Analyze variances between actual results and budget/forecast, providing clear insights and recommendations
• Support financial planning and scenario analysis to inform business decisions
Compliance, Tax & Governance
• Ensure compliance with Canadian federal and provincial tax regulations, including corporate income tax, GST/HST, and payroll remittances
• Coordinate with external tax advisors and auditors on filings, audits, and advisory matters
• Monitor changes in accounting standards, tax legislation, and regulatory requirements and assess organizational impact
Internal Controls & Risk Management
• Design, implement, and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets
• Lead risk assessments and support internal and external audit activities
• Ensure strong documentation, policies, and procedures across financial processes
• Oversee insurance programs and financial risk mitigation strategies
Cash Flow & Treasury Management
• Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and working capital
• Manage banking relationships, credit facilities, and financing arrangements
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions
Inventory & Cost Accounting
• Partner with operations to ensure accurate inventory valuation and cost of goods sold (COGS)
• Oversee inventory controls across multiple locations or warehouses
• Ensure alignment between operational activity and financial reporting
Systems & Process Improvement
• Evaluate and enhance financial systems, processes, and controls to support scalability and efficiency
• Lead or support ERP implementations, upgrades, and process automation initiatives
Leadership & Team Development
• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting and finance team
• Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement
• Set clear expectations and support professional development within the team
Strategic & Executive Support
• Partner with executive leadership and cross functional teams on strategic initiatives
• Provide financial insight to support growth initiatives, operational improvements, and potential transactions
• Act as a trusted financial advisor to senior leaders
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• CPA designation required (CPA Canada)
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a Controller or senior leadership role
• Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting standards (ASPE and/or IFRS), internal controls, and financial reporting
• Solid understanding of Canadian tax regulations and compliance requirements
• Experience managing external audits and working with external accountants and tax advisors
• Experience in a wholesale distribution, manufacturing, or inventory‑driven environment strongly preferred
• Experience with ERP or accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Syspro, or similar)
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills
• Proven ability to lead, develop, and scale high‑performing teams
• Legally authorized to work in Canada

Compensation
