HR Generalist - 18-Months Contract

Source Office Furniture is seeking an HR Generalist at our Burnaby headquarters. This is a full-time position on a contract for 18-months maternity leave coverage.

As the HR Generalist, you’ll play a key role in shaping our employee experience and supporting our teams across our Burnaby headquarters and stores in BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Ontario, while also supporting our partner company, Performance Furnishings, in Burnaby and collaborating with our U.S. based HR Generalist who is supporting N9NE Furniture Group.

Reporting to the HR Director and working 100% onsite in Burnaby, you’ll wear many hats, making HR a true strategic partner in our business and ensuring our people have the support and resources needed to be successful. Main Responsibilities:

Employee & Labour Relations
  • Support employee relations by addressing concerns and fostering a positive workplace culture
  • General labour & employee relations, including coaching and/or interpretation/grievance support
  • Assist with collective bargaining preparation as required
 HR Compliance & Policies
  • Keep us on top of best practices, employment laws and policies
  • Policy and Training tracking and administration
Payroll & Benefits
  • Assist with payroll processing, leave tracking and timekeeping systems
  • Assist with employee benefits programs, including enrollment, changes and communication with providers
HR Operations
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, ensuring confidentiality and data integrity in HUMI HRIS system
  • Data reporting for key HR metrics such as attendance, headcount, turnover rates, hiring etc.
Talent Management
  • Support recruitment, onboarding and career development to attract and retain top talent
  • Support managers with performance review process
 Workplace Health & Safety
  • Assist with WorkSafe injury reporting and return to work management
  • Support of the Workplace Health & Safety program across all Canadian locations

The HR Generalist role is not limited to the tasks listed above and may be required to perform additional tasks as assigned by Management.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in an HR Generalist or similar role
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field preferred
  • CPHR Designation an asset
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian employment laws, HR best practices and compliance
  • Experience in administration of payroll and benefits
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong proficiency with data analysis tools for metrics reporting
  • Attention to detail and ability to multi-task
  • Exceptional verbal, written communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to build rapport and trust with employees
  • Unionized experience is preferred
  • Ability to do light travel in Canada and US
  • Ability to work 100% onsite, full-time 

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm.
